Random Bangkok Pics – by Johnny

Sawadi-kap & Greetings from the “Land of Smiles.” In this report is my collection of random pics around Bangkok from the passenger seat.

Moving through traffic in a car may not be the ideal place to try and capture great photos – but one takes what one can get. Most shots are deleted because of blurred, unexpected movement from all directions. But who cares? It’s digital not film. And you do get some interesting shots from a unique perspective. You’d have to be a nut or suicidal to stand in Bangkok traffic to get shots from some of these angles.

Nearly all of these photos are NOT taken with my trusty Nikon camera. I learned quickly that navigating with a full-size camera and lens from the limited space in passenger cars very much limits your possible camera angles. Now, to say I am not a fan of mobile (cell) phones is a real understatement. But now I had a reason to start using the camera on my Realme C53 mobile phone. Realme C53 – – ? Oh yeah, cheapest Chinese made phone sold in Bangkok!

The beginning photos are of the Asok Sukhumvit Intersection. Maybe the busiest in Bangkok, it is always a traffic nightmare. The skytrain (BTS) is above with the longest unsupported span on the entire system. Below the skytrain is the skywalk. This is the best way to see the city on foot above the chaos above the traffic, vendors and walkways below. For those who are fans of the movie Hangover – tuk tuk shots are seen from this intersection.

FAQ – Why is Sukhumvit Road mentioned so many times in posts both on Johnny’s Jazz Joint and Darts Thailand? Life surrounds major roadways and Sukhumvit Rd (Highway 3) is the longest roadway in Thailand. It follows a coastal route from Bangkok through Pattaya to Trat at the Thai Cambodia border. See photo of where Sukhumvit Rd begins and hope to have pic of where it ends . . . soon.

For those that know Bangkok, hope these pics bring you some good memories. For those that have never been here, hope these pics give you some idea of the streets of what I consider the best city in the world.

Until next report – stay well – Johnny
